SPECIAL REPORT: Lighting monopoly casts a dark shadow
Sep 24, 07 2:50pm

Why has the government allowed four companies - all bumiputera manufacturers - to monopolise the RM20 million per year ‘lighting supply’ for all government agencies?

Based on two circulars from the Treasury, the four politically well-connected manufacturers have an iron grip on government contracts, federal and state agencies, local governments and even the biggest customer of all, Tenaga Nasional Bhd.

The business is estimated to be between RM15 million and RM20 million per annum. Malaysiakini seeks to throw light on the issue.
